Indian Fry Bread Recipe



Prep time: 15 min
Cook Time: 3-5 Minutes

Ingredients:

3 cups flower
1/2 cup lard
1 1/2 Tbls baking Powder
1/2 Tbl salt
1 2/3 cup water


In the bowl, mix the flour and lard together by hand, and then add the baking powder, and salt.

Next, add the water and work the ingredients into a dough. (when taking this camping with you mix all the ingredients except water at home, do this step at camp)

This can be cooked several ways while in the backcountry. I like to fry it in a frying pan over a fire or camp stove. You can also take a portion of the dough (about 1/2) and wrap it around the end of a stick and roast it over a fire until brown

At home it can be baked in the oven or fried on the stove as well.
