Bird-foot Violet

 

Common Name: Bird-foot Violet
Scientific Name: Viola pedata
Range: Throughout most of the East
Flowering: March - June
Habitat: Dry sandy fields or openings in the woods
The bird foot violet has beautiful light-violet colored flowers that can be 1.5" wide. The flowers have 5 beardless petals highlighted by the bottom petal that is white fading to lavender with veins visible in white area. This Photo was taken in Scott's Gulf in April.
