Date announced for Desoto State Park’s 17th Annual Wildflower Saturday
February 17, 2009

Spring will be in full bloom when Desoto State Park in Ft. Payne, Ala., hosts its 17th Annual Wildflower Saturday on May 2, 2009. Join the park staff and wildflower experts for a day of enlightening hiking experiences, great food and fun.

Wildflower Saturday activities include a 7 a.m. breakfast buffet, three hiking opportunities ranging from easy to moderate, a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m., and a wildflower presentation beginning at 7:15 p.m. in the Canyon Room of the park’s lodge. All hikes are free to the public and no registration is required. However, large groups are encouraged to RSVP.

Northeast Alabama is home to hundreds of wildflower species many of which can be viewed along the trails in Desoto State Park. With Rhododendron and Mountain Laurel blooming around every corner the hikes will be beautiful as well as informative.
