Tennessee Hunter Accidentally Shot By Brother

A Robertson County Tennessee hunting trip in turned tragic for two brothers on January 3, 2007.  According to police reports Theron Allen Langford, 59, was accidentally shot and killed by his brother, Thurman Langford, 63, of Georgia.  while they were deer hunting.

The accident reportedly happened as the brothers were hunting at a densely wooded hillside on family owned property. Langford's brother said he was aiming at a deer about 30 feet away when he accidentally shot and killed his brother, who was about 75 feet away.

After the accident Langford's brother suffered an emotional breakdown and was treated and released.

Neither of the brothers was wearing hunters orange although it was reported they both had orange inside a backpack. Orange is not required in Tennessee for resident hunters who are hunting on their own property or that of a parent although it is recommended.

No charges were filed or citations issued in the case.
