Tennessee Hunter Accidentally Shot By Hunting Dog

Thomas Ayer St. Charles III, 28, was accidentally shot and killed while duck hunting an inlet of the Cumberland River near Nashville, Tennessee. 

St. Charles and his hunting partner Harold C. HammThe men had put their boat in the Cumberland River at the Cleese's Ferry boat ramp and gone downriver. At the end of the hunt St. Charles was out of the boat collecting duck decoys when his dog, apparently stepped on his gun, causing it to discharge. The shot passed through the side of the boat and struck St. Charles in the abdomen.

The 911 call reporting the accident was made at about 5:50 p.m. January, 11. St. Charles was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died later.
