Maryland Fatal Hunting Accidents

Below are a few of the fatal hunting accidents that have happened in Maryland.

  • 2010 - Paul Joseph Kemper Jr. was killed after falling from his treestand approximately 25' off the ground. He was found by his hunting partner and had an unattached tree stand safety harness near him when he was discovered.

  • 2005 - Andre Strickland, 53, Strickland was descending from a tree when he fell and became entangled in his safety harness, police said. Cause of death as accidental hanging.

  • 2004 - Stamos Courpas, 35, shot by hunter who mistook his movements for a bird.

  • 2003 - Jeremy Ryan Robertson, 23, fatally shot when he was mistaken for a deer by another hunter
