  • Philip K. Mason - District Wildlife Manager Colorado Department of Natural Resources was killed when a 1,000 pound rolled bail of hay, fell on him while it was being loaded it into a truck. September 3, 2001
  • James Howard Olterman - Terrestrial Biologist and the area's wildlife law enforcement officer was killed in a plane crash while on a fish stocking mission to hunts lake near Salida. September 4, 2002
