My buddy called one
Saturday afternoon in February 1999, and said the geese were piling
in to the field behind his place. We drove there and snuck along the
drainage ditch in the field, deafened by the roar of snow geese on
either side of the field. We both looked at each other and rose at
the same time, and the geese became silent as we rose from the ditch.
The air roared to life as we shouldered our guns, and fired 3 times
each. 5 snows fell with my three shots, and 8 fell with partner's! We
picked them up amidst the clamoring of the geese, and noticed 2
dropping out of the sky in the distance 100 yards away. A long and
satisfying walk handed us another 2 snows for the freezer. I can
honestly say, this is one of the most memorable shoots I can
remember. Visit
