Swimming, Snorkeling,
Scuba Diving
There are two primary beaches for swimming and and
snorkeling within John Pennekamp Coral Reef Park. Cannon Beach is the most
popular snorkeling beach. There are remnants of an early Spanish shipwreck
just 100 feet from the shore. When we were snorkeling there I spotted
numerous fish as well as a "ray" of some sort swimming
near the ship. I also saw the ships cannons as well as a couple of different
crabs.
Canoeing
John Pennekamp State
Park also offers 2.5 miles of canoe or kayak paths through the mangroves
where you can see a variety of birds and fish. Canoes
are available for rent.
