Hiking Trails
There are really only 3 hiking trails at Rock
Island and unfortunately, they are all pretty short.
All trails receive moderate traffic on weekends, but
the trails are very quiet during the week. Trail are
on the Rock Island
Map.
Collins River Loop Trail - 3 miles, this
is an easy, shaded hike. Most of the hike wooded
hillside over looking the Collins and Caney Fork
Rivers.
Eagle Trail - .7 miles, Eagle Trail runs
from the Blue Hole Picnic Area #1 down to the main
swimming area. The trail is basically all down hill
from Blue Hole, or of course all up hill when coming
from the swimming area.
Moonshine Trail - .5 miles, short easy
hike. Starts at the tennis court parking lot and
goes over to the campground. Wildflower and
wildlife, as well as a "moonshine still".
Caney Fork Gorge - no "trails" through the
gorge, but lots of river bank hiking, rock hopping
and photo opportunities. Lots of swimming and
fishing opportunities as well. Access trail down to
the river from Blue Hole picnic area #1 on the south
side of the river, or access the gorge from the Twin
Falls parking area on the North side.
