|Mallard ducks are one of the most recognized
in the duck family. Often becoming semi-domesticated in park ponds. This
photo was taken at Cane Creek Park in Cookeville Tennessee.
(below) looks similar to numerous other female duck species including
Pintails, Gadwalls, and Blue-winged Teals. Their plain, brown coloring
allows them to be concealed while sitting on their nests which are usually
built in marsh grass or brush piles near the shore.
