Praying Mantis in Tennessee

Common Name: Praying Mantis
Scientific Name:
Range:
Caterpillar
This photo was taken in my yard in middle Tennessee. The praying Mantis was eating insects attracted to our porch light. They usually use there front 'pinchers' for capturing and holding prey, however they are also used for walking and climbing. Notice the right pincher, and the 'claw' near the end.
