North Carolina Man Dies from Treestand Fall Injuries

Matthew C. Saunders, Sr., 50, of Council, North Carolina died on October 16, 2004 of head injuries he apparently sustained in a fall from his treestand.

Bladen County Sheriff Steve Bunn said Saunders was found at the base of a tree Saturday evening by his hunting partner, David Locklear, Jr. Saturday was the first day of deer season in Bladen County.

There was one hunting related fatality reported in Bladen County in 2003.
