This Hackberry
Butterfly was photographed near Cordell Hull lake in middle Tennessee.
Have you figured out what that strange surface the butterfly is standing
on is? It's my arm.

Similar species include the Tawny Emperor (Asterocampa
clyton) and the Painted Lady. However, the Tawny Emperor does not
have the single eye spots the Hackberry butterfly has on the tops of their
wings.
