Common Name: Collared Lizard
Scientific Name: Crotaphytus collaris
Habitat: Lime stone ledges, hardwood forests, arid areas with plenty of cover
Range: SW Illinois to Eastern Utah South to Mexico and central Texas

 

The Collared Lizard is capable of running on it's hind legs when fleeing, looking like a small dinosaur. There are 5 subspecies found on North America, the Chihuahuan, Eastern, Sonoran, Western and the Yellow-Headed
